Ladies and gents, I have a bike
And here she is… bikes are female, aren’t they? Well the male in me says if I’m riding it… ahem.
‘She’ is a Dawes Sonoran - not a Sontaran, as I suddenly thought I might have purchased while riding it earlier today. (That would be a Doctor Who villain with a head like a… wait, this is a family blog. Right, right….)
Instead it’s named after the North American Sonoran Desert, which makes sense as they also have a Mojave and a Kalahari in their range, the latter currently being ridden on his commute by colleague and mate Mark.
Can’t see this being ridden up and down sand-dunes, however; it’s a hybrid road bike, with some nods to the mountain bike style but still not a dropped-handlebar speed machine. (Oooh, don’t I sound like I know what I’m talking about….)
Lots more to talk about - where the hell the money came from, buying the thing, and the first 11.7 miles on it including my sudden re-acquaintance with traffic (Ohmigod, large moving metal boxes in my close proximity! Eeep!) but oddly enough I’m kinda tired. Just wanted to mark the day with a post. Oh, and here’s another photo of The Other Woman:
Oooh, look at the shine on that.

After a couple of months, how is your new bike treating you?
